Advanced Exocad Courses

CAD 4D provides advanced training with the Exocad software, offering users courses for the various modules, available with the integration of the various Expert functions.

Advanced courses have been developed to provide an understanding of the concepts and functions of every single module available, including the Implant module, the Bar module and Attachments module, the Provisional Crown module, the Bite Splint module, the Dynamic Articulator module and Jaw Motion module, the Dicom Viewer module, the Model Creator module and the Full Denture module and, available soon, the Smile Design module, Partial Removable module, Ortho module and Surgical Guide module.

The aim of these courses is to give participants the knowledge they need to understand the wizard and expert mode use of every single module.

The Advanced course comprises several steps, and above all it is different for every module.

The topics covered for the Implant Module are as follows:

  • Measuring devices, how to choose the Scan Body.
  • Assessment of the scan bodies and libraries available.
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of geometry, analysis of the various systems.
  • Guidance on preparing models for scanning.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Combination and alignment of scan body scanning libraries.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Implant module.
  • Creation of the implant emergence profile.
  • Exocad CAD design of screw retained bridges, crowns and abutments.
  • Creation of screw-retained bridges, crowns and abutments, saving and export of the Stl files for milling.

The topics covered for the Bar Module are as follows:

  • Measuring devices, how to choose the Scan Body.
  • Assessment of the scan bodies and libraries available.
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of geometry, analysis of the various systems.
  • Guidance on preparing models for scanning.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Combination and alignment of scan body scanning libraries.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Bar module.
  • Creation of the implant emergence profile.
  • Exocad CAD design of screw-retained Toronto bridges, bars and structures.
  • Creation of Toronto bridges, bars and structures with the various standard cross-sections available, or customized.
  • Management of attachments, bolted, visualizers and retention with the various cross-sections
  • Management of secondary structures (e.g. Bars)
  • Saving and export of the Stl files for milling.

The topics covered for the Provisional Crown module are as follows:

  • Guidance on preparing models for scanning.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Provisional Crown module.
  • Creation of the margin line.
  • Exocad CAD design of crowns and bridges.
  • Analysis of the insertion axis, assessment of dimensions and shape and stump preparation
  • Creation of egg-shell provisional crowns and bridges, saving and export of the Stl files for milling.

The following are the topics covered for the Bite Splint module:

  • Guidance on preparing models for scanning.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Bite Splint module.
  • Identification of the offset parameters to be applied.
  • Analysis of the insertion axis, assessment of dimensions and shape and Bite Splint preparation
  • Exocad CAD design of a static and dynamic Bite Splint.
  • Creation of the Bite Splint, an individual impression tray or a plate for the totally toothless, and saving and export of the Stl files for milling or 3D printing.

The following are the topics covered for the Dynamic Articulator and Jaw Motion module:

  • Guidance on the various articulators available.
  • Automatic or manual use of models in the virtual articulator.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Dynamic Articulator module.
  • Parameter identification and setup at an average value or an individual or personal value for the patient (Jaw Motion Module).
  • Analysis of the standard and adjustable articulators available.
  • Creation of an anatomical bridge for application of intersection removal functions with dynamic and static movements.

The following are the topics covered for the Model Creator module:

  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Intraoral scan analysis, mesh assessment.
  • Guidance on mesh correction for prototype production.
  • Management of the margin line Exocad CAD design of crowns and bridges.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Model Creator module.
  • Assessment of offset parameters for the creation of removable stumps.
  • Overview of parameter setup for the creation of models for prototyping.
  • Creation of supports for free articulation models.
  • Personalisation of models with wording on the surface, saving and export of the Stl files for 3D printing or milling.

The following are the topics covered for the Implant Model Creator module:

  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Analysis of the intraoral scan and scan body used, mesh assessment.
  • Guidance on mesh correction for prototype production.
  • Assessment of the scan bodies and libraries available.
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of geometry, analysis of the various systems.
  • Exocad CAD design of screw retained crowns and bridges.
  • Step by step analysis of the Model Creator module.
  • Overview of parameter setup for the creation of models for prototyping.
  • Creation of the separate gum for 3D printing.
  • Creation of supports for free articulation models.
  • Personalisation of models with wording on the surface, saving and export of the Stl files for 3D printing or milling.

The following are the topics covered for the Full Denture module:

  • Guidance on preparing models for scanning.
  • Exocad worksheet creation (examination of the different types of protocol).
  • Creation of the mesh file for export to Exocad CAD.
  • Step by step analysis of the Exocad CAD Full Denture module.
  • Creation of occlusion rims and the reference files.
  • Creation of occlusion rims and the reference files.
  • Analysis of occlusal axis, median line and Camper’s plane.
  • Selection of teeth from library and virtual mounting.
  • Design of full denture with virtual flange.
  • Creation of the full denture, saving and export of the Stl files for milling or 3D printing.

 

CAD 4F offers three teaching methods for advanced training: theoretical group courses, theoretical-practical group courses and customised courses.

Theoretical group Advanced courses are created in slide&live view mode with a large teaching section and a smaller amount of time dedicated to the showing of live videos on design.

Theoretical-practical group advanced courses are held in live view mode. Each participant is able to work with Exocad at his or her own station, with an all-in-one touchscreen PC. The day is subdivided into a teaching part and a practical part, where each participant is able to put all the information seen in the theoretical part into practice straight away, with the constant support of a tutor.

The customised Advanced course is intended for a maximum of two participants. The participants are able to choose the topics of interest to them, and the training will be provided in live view mode. Each participant will be able to work with Exocad at his or her own station, with an all-in-one touchscreen PC. The day is subdivided into a teaching part and a practical part, where each participant is able to put all the information seen in the
theoretical part into practice straight away, with the constant support of a tutor.

In the customised Basic course, participants can bring their own working models and design directly with the tutors on the training day.
